Are you stressing about setting up the perfect Thanksgiving tablescape?
Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays of the year. It’s a time for reflection, appreciation and spending time with the ones you love.
But, let’s get real for a second. If you’ve ever been charged with hosting Thanksgiving dinner, you know just how overwhelming Turkey Day can be. From planning dinner, to grocery shopping, to preparing for the arrival of your eagle-eyed mother-in-law, there’s a lot on the T-to-do list.
While we may not be able to help you baste your bird, there’s one thing we do know–home décor. Luckily for you, our designers are sharing easy, but beautiful, tablescape ideas that everyone can be thankful for this holiday season.
Start With the Basics
Thanksgiving is all about gathering for the meal, so choosing a beautiful dining set is the first half of the battle. When selecting a dining table, you’ll, of course, want to consider the look and feel you want to achieve in the end.
We’re partial to rustic and classic pieces that will blend in seamlessly with any décor, like this set, pictured below.
Choose a Standout Color Scheme
The traditional color scheme for Thanksgiving tablescapes is, of course, the typical fall palette of red, orange, yellow and brown. But, why settle for ordinary? You don’t always have to follow traditional expectations! Here’s an example of a fall color palette that will give your table a pop color—that isn’t exclusively coordinated around beige or pumpkin-orange hues.
Incorporating these colors into your napkins, place settings and centerpieces is really quite easy. Keep in mind that you don’t have to overdo it, either. A little touch of color here and there can go a long way.

Don’t Be Afraid to Mix and Match
If you know us at all, you know we love to make a statement. However, it’s often the subtle touches that make the most dramatic difference. The key to creating a timeless, yet fresh look, is to layer different patterns or textures.
As you can see below, mixing and matching textures, patterns, colors, and even dishware will take your tablescape from snooze-fest to striking soiree just like that.

Celebrate the Bounty of Fall
Thanks to the earthy colors of fall, using natural elements like gourds, berries, twigs and foliage in your tabletop centerpieces is a no-brainer. This five-minute DIY Thanksgiving centerpiece from D’ Amore 1896 makes use of easy-to-find craft supplies while making a statement to boot.
Go ahead and use their idea as is, or celebrate the bounty of the fall harvest in a way that is uniquely you. Start by arranging seasonal items in a large dough bowl. Start with a layer of floral foam, then add real (or artificial) gourds, stems, pinecones, and finish with a pop of color from dried florals (like these warm Banksia Hookeriana pods).
Welcome Everyone With a Personalized Place Setting
Guests love to feel special, and nothing makes people feel more welcome than seeing that you’ve prepared a spot just for them at the table. We love these circular wooden name cards. They are a perfect mix of casual and personal while still making your holiday table feel elegant.
You can also handwrite each guest’s names on mini pumpkins or apples for this too if you’re looking for another way to make fall produce the focal point of your design.
