We sat down with the Brumbaugh’s in-house design team, and spoke directly with one of the designers, Lori, who recently helped to complete a stunning modern western home project, to delve into her design process and how she achieved this unique aesthetic.

Q: How did this project begin?
A: Our customer had originally started this project solo, and one of the initial moving and delivery guys suggested Brumbaugh’s. She went to our social media, and immediately fell in love with several of our pieces, including two fringe swivel chairs. With the bond she created with the team through this initial process, she asked us to finish the house. Shortly, Darra and I were on a plane.

Q: Where did your inspiration come from?
A: Like I previously mentioned, she already purchased a couple items from us, so we had a feel for the family’s style. Getting to know the customer personally and getting to see the beautiful home they had, we just got her vision.

Q: How did you manage this project from states away?
A: While we did have lots of phone calls and pictures texted, most of it was a surprise! Each customer is different, however she had full faith in the Brumbaugh’s team.

Q: What was your favorite piece of this installation?
A: My absolute favorite part is the entrance. We had their family brand placed above the front door. You immediately walk in and feel at home. We featured a best selling settee by their family portrait. On the opposite wall, there is original artwork, a new modern ottoman, and vintage rugs in between. The combination of modern and vintage crafted perfect harmony for the space.

Q: Looking back, what was your overall favorite part of the install?
A: The family’s reaction was incredible. They were so pleased and couldn’t believe the transformation. She was in shock that we nailed her own personal vision. It’s the best feeling when your customer wouldn’t change a thing!
