Have you been keeping an eye on the expected 2018 interior design trends?
Although it’s only just beginning, this is looking to be a big year in the interior design world. Designers seem to be growing tired of minimalism and neutral color palettes. Instead, they are increasingly turning to bold colors, big furniture, and interesting textures in their interior projects.
Although trends remain to be seen with absolute certainty, here are our best bets for the biggest 2018 interior design trends:
Rich Color Palettes
If you feel a little “blah” when gazing upon your white walls and tan sofas, rejoice! Intense hues will be a common staple in 2018. Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year, Ultra Violet, is a bold purple which has been described as “dramatically provocative.” Likewise, Benjamin Moore’s 2018 Color of the Year, Caliente, is an equally bold deep-red meant to evoke the grandiose and powerful.
This year, don’t be afraid to think outside the box. You don’t have to go overboard, but consider incorporating eye-catching pieces in spaces that need a little “livening.”

Interesting Textures
Another big 2018 interior design trend will be the use of interesting and complex textures in fabrics like suede, velvet, or animal hide. The key to really pulling off these textures, however, is to mix it up a little.
Instead of selecting a set of living room furniture made of a continuous material, select pieces that utilize various feels and patterns. You could place a velvet occasional chair next to a leather sectional, or situate a cowhide rug beneath a fabric ottoman. Just be sure to tie it all together with a color palette comprised of complimentary colors.

Dark Wood Tones
According to many interior fashion projections, dark wood is making a comeback in both flooring and furniture. “Dramatic” will be the word for 2018 interior style, so in addition to choosing wood furniture with darker tones, you’ll also want to select something with ornate carvings. If you’re worried about darkening a room too much, pair your darker pieces alongside some of those bold colors we discussed above.

Copper and Brass Accents
Copper and brass are also making a comeback in interior design this year. Designers are choosing these metals for hardware, lighting, and even for kitchen appliances. If you aren’t crazy about going throughout your home and changing all of your doorknobs and faucets, think about incorporating one of the metals into one accent piece that’ll grab the attention of your guests. For example, a copper sink with gorgeous floral accents is great for adding drama to a guest or master bathroom.

Floral Patterns
Speaking of florals, it appears that floral patterns in furniture, art, and rugs will be big in 2018. As with anything else, you don’t want to overdo florals, though. One bold accent piece per room is enough to do the trick. The rug pictured below knocks out two birds with one stone by featuring both a floral pattern and Benjamin Moore’s 2018 Color of the Year.

Oversized Furniture
Have we mentioned that 2018 is all about the big and the bold? The same goes for the furniture you select for your interiors. Small, sleek furniture will be less favorable in comparison to large, commanding items like sectional sofas and grand china cabinets.
The perfect place for a palatial piece is certainly the master bedroom. Luxurious beds with ornate headboards will become much more commonplace this year. Plus, you’ll also be able to infuse rich colors and bold patterns into your bedding.
