Brumbaugh’s Women Shaping the Modern West

There are moments when the West feels less like a place and more like a legacy—something carried forward through the people who choose to preserve it, reinterpret it, and make it their own.

This summer, that legacy took center stage in the pages of COWGIRL magazine with The Creators, a special issue celebrating ten remarkable women whose work is helping define the modern American West. We were especially honored to see two women from the Brumbaugh’s family, Sally Brumbaugh and her daughter Elizabeth Brumbaugh Quirk, featured among them.

For us, their inclusion feels deeply personal.

At Brumbaugh’s Furniture & Design, we have always believed that the most meaningful spaces are created from more than beautiful things. They are shaped by craftsmanship, history, personality, and the people who bring a room to life. Sally has spent decades developing that philosophy through her work as an interior designer, while Elizabeth continues to carry that vision forward for a new generation.

Together, they represent something we value deeply: the ability to honor where you come from while continuing to evolve.

That same spirit is at the heart of The Creators. The issue brings together women working across fashion, interiors, leather, jewelry, boots, hats, fragrance, photography, and design. Their creative disciplines may differ, but their stories share a common thread—an appreciation for craftsmanship and a commitment to creating something that lasts.

The project was photographed at Brumbaugh Ranch in Weatherford, Texas, creating a setting that felt especially fitting for a story about the women shaping the West. Surrounded by the landscape, history, and character of Texas, the photographs capture something that goes beyond fashion or design. They capture a way of life.

We were honored to have Brumbaugh Ranch serve as the backdrop for this extraordinary gathering of women, and even prouder to see Sally and Elizabeth standing together as part of it.

The women featured in this issue are not simply making beautiful things. They are contributing to a living culture—one that respects its roots while leaving room for new ideas, new perspectives, and new generations of creators.

As Brumbaugh’s celebrates 60 years, we understand the importance of that continuity more than ever. Our own story has been built around family, American craftsmanship, design, and an enduring appreciation for the West. Seeing Sally and Elizabeth recognized together in COWGIRL feels like another chapter in that story.

We are proud to celebrate the women who continue to shape the West—and grateful to be part of a community that understands that preserving tradition does not mean standing still. Sometimes, it means creating what comes next.
