A Chic, Yet Traditional Thanksgiving Table: How to Get the Look
Don’t get us wrong: The star of Thanksgiving Day is absolutely the scrumptious spread of food. But as the holiday host, you know the table upon which those dishes lay is also equally important.
With all the hosting you’ll have to do, pulling off a tablescape that wows your guests is easier said than done. To take some of the burdens off your plate, our designers are sharing their best tips for styling a chic, yet traditional Thanksgiving tablescape that will be the perfect backdrop for plenty of good food, company, and gratitude.

Start Where Everyone Gathers
You want your guests to be comfortable in your home, and that includes while they’re sitting at the dinner table. A beautiful, high-end dining set is half the battle when it comes to dinner decor. When selecting a dining table, you’ll, of course, want to consider the look and feel you want to achieve in the end. If you’re really looking to make a statement, heavy wooden tables with ornate carvings are striking when paired with detailed leather chairs. We’re partial to rustic and stately pieces like the Magnificent Dining Table, pictured to the left.
If you want to incorporate a few fall colors, like deep, rich browns, while elevating the look of your dining table year-round, the ARM Crocodile Dining Chair would also make a good addition to any setting. It’s a perfect balance of fine leather and gorgeous fall colors that isn’t too on the nose.

Choose a Color Stand Out Scheme
A popular color scheme for Thanksgiving tablescapes is, of course, the typical fall palette of red, orange, yellow, and brown. But we’re big believers in standing out from the crowd, so your table should be fun and represent you.
Here’s an example of a fall color palette that will give your table a pop color—that isn’t exclusively coordinated around beige or pumpkin-orange hues.
Incorporating these colors into your napkins, place settings and centerpieces is really quite easy. Keep in mind that you don’t have to overdo it, either. A little touch of color here and there can go a long way.

Layer Your Decorations for a Visual Feast
Thanksgiving is all about excess—turkey, pies, and all the sides. And at Brumbaugh’s, we also prefer to create a harvest scene that feels plentiful. The key to creating a timeless, yet fresh look, is to layer different accessories, foliage, glasses, and lots of textures and colors.
Lots of layering and color was the key to success on this well-appointed tablescape. Bold blue and oranges found in the glassware, cocktail napkins, china, and gourds all played a vital role in setting the table for this visual feast.
If you want to make a statement but prefer a neutral color scheme, just focus on mixing and matching textures and patterns instead of color. Pictured above are cream-colored dishes with fine detailing, along with a Jan Barboglio glass doubling as a mini centerpiece. This is a great idea for a place setting that remains neutral while still managing to stand out.

Celebrate the Bounty of Fall By Incorporating Natural Elements
Thanks to the earthy colors of fall, using natural elements like gourds, berries, twigs, and foliage in your tabletop centerpieces is a no-brainer. This five-minute DIY Thanksgiving centerpiece from D’ Amore 1896 makes use of easy-to-find craft supplies while making a statement to boot.
Go ahead and use their idea as is, or celebrate the bounty of the fall harvest in a way that is uniquely you. Start by arranging seasonal items in a large dough bowl. Start with a layer of floral foam, then add real (or artificial) gourds, stems, and pinecones.

Keep Things Clutter-Free With a Side Table
To keep your main table focused on decor and clutter-free, we recommend serving food from a side table, that way your guests aren’t bumping elbows trying to fit all of the dishes. We think this 6-drawer 2 door console will work beautifully. Hand-carved teak wood combined with ornate design will not only become a statement piece in your home but lasts through years of use, promising a spot for many holidays and dining parties to come.

Welcome Everyone With a Personalized Place Setting
Guests love to feel special, and nothing makes people feel more welcome than seeing that you’ve prepared a spot just for them at the table. We love these circular wooden name cards. They are a perfect mix of casual and personal while still making your holiday table feel elegant.
You can attach each guest’s name on mini pumpkins or pears for this too if you’re looking for another way to make fall produce the focal point of your design.
